On April 30, 2024, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan met with Mr. Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
During the meeting, the parties discussed actual issues of bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation.
The sides noted the important role of existing instruments of bilateral relations, including the Joint Tajik-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in expanding and strengthening multilateral cooperation between two countries.
In the meeting, special attention was paid to regional security issues and the fight against modern threats. Cooperation between the two countries within the European Union was among the topics which was also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of the Republic of Tajikistan and Ministry of Interior of Hungary on cooperation in the field of security and criminality counteraction, which undoubtedly strengthens joint efforts of two countries to combat terrorism, extremism and other types of financing crimes.
