On May 28, 2024, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ismatullo Nasredin received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Tajikistan (with residence in Astana) Mr. Willy Kempel.

The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Austria, as well as they discussed issues of cooperation in the framework of international organizations

At the end of the meeting, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ismatullo Nasredin thanked the Ambassador Mr. Willy Kempel for his contribution to the expansion and strengthening of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Austria and wished him success in his future endeavors.

First celebration of the World Football Day at the UN

On May 22, 2024, at the UN Headquarters, the member states celebrated the first World Football Day, the initiative which was proposed by the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) H.E. Rustam Emomali, and adopted through UN General Assembly Resolution No. A/RES/78/281. This historic event was organized by the Permanent missions of Tajikistan, Bahrain, and Libya to the UN as are main co-sponsors of the resolution.

The event was opened by the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations, Mr. Jonibek Hikmat.

Mr. J. Hikmat urged UN member states to harness the power of football to unite, inspire, invest in the sport’s potential and infrastructure, ensure broad access of the population, support coaches on the field, and train future stars.

Following the official part of the event, a mini-football tournament was held at the UN headquarters, with the participation of four groups representing Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa. The opening ceremony of a mini-football tournament was inaugurated by the President of UNGA Mr. Dennis Francis.

On March 14, 2024 the First deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Nasredin Ismatullo received the copies of Сredentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Columbia to the Republic of Tajikistan (with residence in Moscow) Hector Isidro Arenas Neira.

During the meeting the two sides discussed the current state and prospects of the development of relations between Tajikistan and Columbia, as well as cooperation in the framework of international organizations.

I.Nasredin congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him for every success in carrying out the responsible mission.

On October 2, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Muhriddin received the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji.

 

 

During the meeting, the sides discussed bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia in political, economic, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest, and also exchanged views on using broad opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

On March 7, 2023, the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Afghanistan as part of the “Central Asia-India” Dialogue was held in New Delhi with the participation of the heads of the relevant structural units / special envoys of the ministries of foreign affairs of the countries of Central Asia and India.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the political, security and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, contemporary threats such as terrorism, extremism, radicalization and drug trafficking emanating from the territory of this country, as well as ways and means to counter regional security challenges.

In their turn, the representatives of the World Food Program and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime informed the audience about their activities in Afghanistan in the field of eliminating the consequences of the humanitarian crisis and preventing drug trafficking.

A Joint Statement was adopted following the meeting.

On February 28, 2023, the first Tajik-Slovak Business Forum took place in Bratislava.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharaf Sheralizoda and the Deputy Minister of Economy of Slovakia Peter Svec. Trade and investment opportunities of the two countries were presented at the meeting.

The event was attended by representatives of state authorities of Tajikistan and Slovakia and entrepreneurs of both countries active in the fields of energy, manufacturing, services, oil and gas production, pharmaceuticals, etc.

The Forum provided the efficient platform to find business partners among entrepreneurs and expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries
